Newington Parks and Recreation provides a comprehensive and wide range of services, programs, and facilities for all ages to enhance the quality of life for Newington residents, under the direction of the Board of Parks and Recreation. Our staff strives to continually contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by citizens in the Newington community by providing healthy, safe, and affordable opportunities for recreation and leisure for all ages.

Preschool

The Newington Parks and Recreation Department’s Creative Playtime Preschool seeks to create a nurturing, educational environment in which children can learn, grow, and feel safe with adults other than their parents. Our facility is special in that we have a gymnasium, a community room, Mill Pond Park, and Lucy Welles Library next door to our school. Registration packets are available online or at the Newington Parks and Recreation office.

Life. Be in It. Extravaganza!

Join us at Mill Pond Park on Saturday, July 19th to celebrate the 43rd Annual Life. Be in It. Extravaganza! Enjoy food, games, rides, an adult beer garden, arts & crafts exhibits, and much more! The carnival will be open from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. The fireworks show will start at 9:30 pm

Newington Goes Country

The Newington Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with 92.5 and Happy Harry's, is excited to announce the Newington Goes Country event at Mill Pond Park in Newington!

Preschool

Creative Playtime Preschool

Our Creative Playtime Preschool Program is open to children ages 3-5, students for the 2023-2024 school year should turn 3 before December 31, 2023! The program is fully licensed through the State of Connecticut and follows the state’s Early Learning Standards.

Summer Sunshine

Summer Sunshine is open to children ages 3 and 4. Your child will have a blast during the summer while socializing, playing games, listening to stories, creating crafts, swimming, enjoying music, and more!
